The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) is the governing and regulatory body for horseracing in Great Britain. It is the BHA’s role to act for and on behalf of the whole sport, with a key objective being to ensure the highest standards apply on and away from the racecourse.
The BHA is looking to recruit a Communications Executive reporting into the Media Manager and supporting the Communications and Corporate Affairs department. While the role will be line managed by the Media Manager, it will be responsible for delivering work across all branches of the communications team on behalf of various managers, including stakeholder and internal engagement, and working on digital content and PR campaigns.
Key responsibilities will include supporting on the delivery of communications campaigns across all communications channels, handling queries from the public and media, sourcing and delivering digital content for the BHA’s website and social media channels, assisting in the delivery of BHA announcements, improving the BHA’s communications with its workforce, liaising with stakeholders and producing engaging content and campaigns for internal and external audiences that are impactful, relevant and consistent. The role will also be responsible for supporting the development, planning and delivery of internal and external engagement events, activities, products and initiatives.
We are looking for someone who has experience of working in a busy communications department. Ideally you will have experience of managing and executing communications / PR campaigns, events and activities along with sourcing and delivering high-quality media content across a range of channels and platforms. Some experience of media engagement and preparation of press releases and announcement is also desirable.
To be successful in this role, you will be a good communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to write for a range of channels and audiences and adapt your style accordingly. You will project yourself as a professional and capable ambassador for the BHA. You will be passionate about customer service and effective communications, with good attention to detail and confident working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders. Additionally, you will be a proactive and confident team player who has good organisational skills, including the ability to multi-task and deliver results to tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
